Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Gris
Growing Region: Dambach-la-Ville, Alsace, France
Owner / Winemaker: Claude Gisselbrecht

I’ve known Claude and his family for a number of years now - and have been to the winery and their well cared for vineyards in Alsace several times. They have been respected winegrowers since the 17th century, though it was from 1936 with Willy Gisselbrecht that the winery began to gain their reputation as quality winemakers. The family owns 17 hectares of vines in the best soils of Dambach-la-Ville and the surrounding villages - and their wines have seduced wine enthusiasts around the world.

I encourage you to visit Alsace - as the area’s history, cuisine and these versatile Gisselbrecht wines are something not to be missed. Throughout the year, their vineyards are meticulously maintained and cultivated during their long, though mild growing season, culminating in the ultimate gratification of balanced fruit at harvest.
All of their harvesting is done by hand, ensuring the quality of the grapes through careful bunch selection and careful handling back to the winery - only a short distance from each of the vineyard sites.
Philippe Gisselbrecht is the viticulturist and he works to preserve the essence of the fruit, to retain the bright flavours and subtle fragrances of Pinot Gris. Their hands-on experience is a key to their identity as well as being necessary for creating unique compositions and the most elegant of wines.
In the glass a pale golden straw colour shines up at you. On the nose lifted notes of green pears, sweet apples and a subtle citrus layer interwoven with a hint of fresh spice in the background. The palate is well balanced with good structure, clearly presenting those full ripe pear characters; lifted floral and subtle spicy notes wrapped up in palate cleansing acidity giving the wine a lingering mouthwatering finish. Chill and serve at 8-10°C.

A benchmark expression of Pinot Gris.
