This 2004 Stonyridge Larose is calmly beginning to integrate and mature inside the bottle - slowly revealing its true personality and potential, due to its characteristic intense complexity that Stephen and his winemaking team craft each vintage. Readers find it most helpful - when I open this unique wine at this stage in its development and talk through the wine layers and characters  that I find -  so you are bettered prepared for what is too come with time.

Stonyridge Vineyard is a world-renowned Cabernet predominant winegrower, located on the beautiful island of Waiheke, only 35 minutes by ferry from Auckland. The team are dedicated to producing the finest Cabernet blends in the world (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot), combining traditional winemaking with meticulous organic viticulture.
This wine shows all the classic youthful characters of a true Bordeaux blend. Great fruit expression from the famous five Bordeaux varieties, notes of plum, dark-berries, cassis and subtle herb characters on the nose, with delicate layers of chocolate, tobacco and Waiheke sun-baked earthiness. Some fine spices, vanilla oak and a subtle hints of toast and smoke are also derived from the fine French oak barrels.
This is a big, full wine, not for the faint at heart, matured in 90% new oak barrels, this is all gobbled up by the intensely ripe fruit from the ideal 2004 vintage. Richly flavoured and excitingly complex, with finely balanced tannins and amazing structure, this wine clearly has a long life ahead of it for those of you with patience and a good cellar. The finish is concentrated and lingers on and on, this is one wine experience that should not be missed. Treat yourself. I also recommend decanting for 30-45 minutes and serve at 18°C.

5 Stars - A Classic Red Wine.

Approachable now with 30-45 minutes of decanting, but with a good constitution to mature gracefully in ones cellar for another 8-10 years.

Perfect wine pairing with prime game dishes, quality cuts of red meat with a rich wine-jus and plenty of time to enjoy.
