Domaine Laroche owns 4.56 hectares of this Grand Cru, about a third of the total growth. In these complex Blanchot soils, you can find Kimmeridgian soil, with green and blue clay, and ammonites. A wonderful cocktail of minerals for the vines, plus this unique Blanchots site demonstrates how great a south-east exposure can be. The old vines can produce grapes with full ripeness without compromising mineral character and aromatic finesse.

This combination along with the slow-ripening conditions has a positive influence on aroma and fruit acidity. The Grand Cru Blanchots vineyard is made up of 8 distinct plots. Each unique site having its own personality: vine age, slope, rootstock origin and soil depth, resulting in a number of style nuances.
The carefully tended vines are ploughed to aerate the soil and encourage the development of natural life. The individual plots are hand harvest as whole bunches are brought just a short distance to the winery and placed in a pneumatic press. Then must settles for approximately 12 hours at 12-15°C in large vats. The must was then fermented at 20°C for around 3 weeks. 30% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels of which 25% new, which have only a moderate toasting, allowing the fruit to retain a bright and pure expression. After 7 to 8 months of ageing, they make the Réserve de l’Obédience from the best wines. 70 different components kept in casks, tanks or large old wood vats, may enter the final blend. With the Réserve de l’Obédience renowned for its balance and harmony - a Laroche hallmark.
2010 was a vintage of patience and lifted emotions, with a key to the success of this stunning wine was the near ideal ripening conditions during September. Hand harvesting took place in the second half of the month. The grape parcels were healthy, well-balanced and rich in flavour, resulting in bright and outstanding wine aromas.
On the nose this wines has ripe white fleshed fruits with mineral overtones. On the palate these intense fruit flavours carry through with a confident mineral seam and fresh acidity all in balance. All nicely supported by well integrated oak, producing a wine with a full personality, delicate texture and a pleasingly long finish. Decant for 10-15 minutes and serve at 9-11°C.

An exceptional wine, exhibiting wonderful finesse and complexity.
