The vineyard from which the fruit for this wine was sourced gets is name from an old bushman known as 'Mr. Killerman' who after the Second World War live alone in the bush lands located behind the Kilikanoon winery, west of the hamlet of Penwortham. He lived off the land, trapping rabbits, growing fruits and vegetables and as the story goes, making his own wine in a galvanised iron lean-to.


His real name was Alan Webster - and he was given the nickname 'Killerman' by Mort Mitchell (Kevin's father) and his friends when they were growing up, after Alan’s bush survival skills of 'kill em and eat em', thus the legend of ‘Killerman’ was born.
The 2013 growing season was very good for red varietals in the Clare Valley. Warm days and cool nights promoted full fruit ripeness and flavour development, whilst retaining elegance, natural acidity and tannin balance. These elements have resulted in the red wines from this vintage having an enhanced cellaring potential. All of the ‘Killerman’s Run’ wines are crafted through careful fruit selection, traditional winemaking techniques, with up to sixteen months maturation in a combination of new and seasoned French oak hogshead barrels. Then after tasting, they are then bottled unfiltered to fully enhance the wines character and mouth feel.
As you pour this wine, a deep red colour will fill your glass with a crimson hue. On the nose this youthful Cabernet Sauvignon is showing fresh dark berries like cassis, along with hints of toasty French oak and mint-chocolate lifting at the end.
The palate is full and engaging, filled with those dark berries, including blackcurrants, cassis and an inviting dark chocolate seam. This 2013 ‘Clare Valley’ Cabernet Sauvignon has a complex character with ripe flavours, fine grained tannins with well integrated oak and firm natural acidity giving this wine a long and lingering palate finish. This wine has a pleasing 14.0% Alc. - Decant for 45-60 minutes and serve in a large glass at 17-18°C.

Approachable this season; and will develop nicely over the next 8-10 years.
