Grape Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
Owner / Winemaker: Jules Taylor

Jules without question loves this varietal - because of its expressive personality reflecting the site from which it is grown. It is a varietal that, within each row and even in each bunch - there can be incredible diverse purity of flavour and character. During this 2015 growing season there was virtually no crop manipulation required in the different Sauvignon Blanc vineyard sites. As January arrived so did some warm weather that stayed until late March.

A period of cool nights at this stage stabilised acid levels and allowed optimal flavour profiles and physiological ripe characters to appear with near perfect acid and sugar balance. Harvest started around the middle part of March, though the majority of Sauvignon Blanc was picked in the final days of March and first two weeks of April 2015.
The fruit for this 2015 Sauvignon Blanc was grown in the Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau and Awatere Valley sub regions of Marlborough. Each parcel of fruit was chosen for its specific contribution to the final complex blend. As with previous vintages, each individual parcel was kept separate and winemaking was deliberately simple. The grapes were harvested, pressed and cold settled over a period of 48 hours. After racking off the juice lees, a long, cool fermentation took place with selected yeast strains. Post fermentation, the components were tasted, blended and then stabilised for bottling in August, with the primary aim to retain all that natural freshness.
This Sauvignon Blanc expresses the true essence of Marlborough. In your glass you will be greeted by a pale lemon leading towards a lime colour. The wines aromas leap out of the glass in an explosion of passionfruit, grapefruit, lifted notes of tomato leaf and sweet capsicums. The palate with this vintage being made in a dry style, shows concentrated flavours of citrus fruits, along with those bright passionfruit characters and subtle notes of lemon grass. This wine has an appealing palate texture with a defined backbone of juicy acidity and a balanced, clean dry finish.
This Sauvignon Blanc has 13.3% Alc. Chill gently and serve at 8-10°C.

An expressive, dynamic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
