Grape Varietal: 100% Riesling
Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
Founder / Owner: Allan Scott

A 100% family owned and operated business who are passionate about their wines, striving to ensure customers have an enjoyable experience with each wine, whatever the occasion. The Scott family proudly stand behind everything they produce, being involved with every grape selection and winemaking decision made for each wine. Allan Scott’s vines are predominantly planted on stony, free draining soils situated on the Wairau Valley river flats.

Allan is passionate about their sustainably managed vineyards, and with the care given during the growing season, producing some of the best Marlborough white varietal wines. The wines tend to be nicely structured, with lighter aromatics than expected, due to coming off the heavier clay soils of the lower Wairau plains.
A large proportion of the fruit used in this wine comes from their ‘Moorlands’ block, which directly surrounds the winery, and contains some of the oldest Riesling vines in Marlborough. Some of these well-established vines are now nearly 30 years of age. With canopy and crop management producing no more than 3.5kgs per vine, these vines produce a particularly high quality wine. The different parcels of fruit were harvested in the coolness of the early morning, to retain the varietals inherent vibrancy. After harvesting and only a very short distance to the winery, the fruit was quickly pressed, allowed to settle and then racked, with the juice being fermented in stainless steel tanks. During fermentation the individual parcels were tasted daily until a desirable flavour profile was reached, after which fermentation was arrested.
Then in June I was invited to be part of the blending team to craft the final blends of their estate white wines for the domestic and international markets. With this Riesling being crafted and blended from several different parcels, based on varietal characters and balanced flavours. As if we knew the final numbers in this wine before tasting, this vibrant and refreshing wine might not have been made for your enjoyment.
As you pour this wine, you will be greeted by a pale gold colour with a soft lime glow in the glass. On the nose you have lifted floral and bright citrus aromas with subtle underlying tropical notes. These vibrant varietal characters carry through seamlessly onto the bright palate. The fruit forward style and natural residual grape sugars of 23.5g/L, are beautifully balanced with refreshing acidity resulting in a truly fruit driven wine with a pleasurable lingering finish.
This Riesling has 11.0% Alc/vol. Chill gently and serve at 7-9°C.

A vibrant, fruit forward style Riesling.
