Grape Varietal: 100% Shiraz
Growing Region: Clare Valley, Australia
Owner / Winemaker: Tim Adams

The 'Aberfeldy' label and previous expressions have long been synonymous with quality, representing a flagship Tim Adams wine. I have had the pleasure to enjoy several vintages of this wine, each time it continues to deliver the best that Clare Valley Shiraz can achieve. For those in the know, wine enthusiasts the world over look out for each new vintage - knowing that they will not be disappointed by what Tim and his team have crafted.

This 'Aberfeldy' Shiraz expresses the best from their old dry grown premium vineyards, with this 2012 vintage taking on this special name with pride and confidence.
Once the parcels of fruit were deemed ready for harvest, on arrival into the winery the components of this blend were fermented to dryness and subsequently left on skins for around 2 weeks before being pressed off. All of the pressings were returned back to the wine to give added structure and to improve ageing potential. The wine then matured for about 24 months in a mixture of carefully selected new American and French oak hogsheads in their cool cellars before tasting, blending and then bottling.
In the glass you will be greeted by a deep rich colour at the core of the wine, with a vibrant magenta hue. On the nose this Shiraz is showing aromatics of dark cherries, ripe plums, dark bush berries and subtle notes of dried spices. The palate is full and engaging with those dark berries flavours and the well-integrated balanced oak, firm natural tannins and youthful refreshing acidity. The time in wood also gives a lift to chocolate notes complemented along with oak derived characters of clove, nutmeg and vanilla spice. The wine has a lingering length with power, elegance and great finesse.
This 2012 ‘Aberfeldy’ Clare Valley Shiraz has 14.5% Alc/vol. Decant for 45-60 minutes and serve at 16-17°C.

The 'Aberfeldy' is an iconic Clare Valley Shiraz.

With decanting, enjoyable this season; and will age well for another 12-15 years.

Perfect wine pairing with lamb shanks, prime fillet steaks, meat pasta dishes, and rich vegetarian cuisine, and hard cheeses with crusty bread - enjoy.
