Grape Varietals: Grenache / Shiraz / Mourvèdre Blend
Growing Region: Clare Valley, South Australia
Owner / Chief Winemaker: Kevin Mitchell

For those of you new to this wine range - the name ‘Killerman’s Run’ comes from the reclusive Mr. Alan Webster who after the second world war lived alone in the scrub land behind the Kilikanoon cellar, west of the hamlet of Penwortham. He lived by trapping rabbits, growing his own fruits and vegetables and even making his own wine in a galvanised lean to. He was given the nickname 'Killerman' by Mort Mitchell (Kevin’s father) and his friends.

When they were growing up, and after Alan’s bush survival skills of 'kill-em and eat-em', thus the legend of Killerman was born. The Clare Valley had a good 2013 vintage with ideal conditions for ripening red varietals. The warm days and cool nights resulted in physiologically ripe fruit and good flavour development with balanced natural acidity and tannins.
The three varietals bring their own unique character which combine well with each other, crafting a wine greater than the individual parts. With lifted notes of the small parcel of Mourvèdre (known locally as Mataro), the bright cherry and dark chocolate flavours from the Grenache and the robust backbone and riper dark fruits and spice characters from the Shiraz, produce a truly textural and captivating wine.
This 'Killerman's Run' G.S.M wine blend has been crafted with careful fruit selection and traditional winemaking techniques. Along with sixteen months of maturation in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads and then after tasting and masterful blending to Kevin’s high standards. It was then bottled unfined and unfiltered to fully enhance the wines palate character and ability for ageing.
In your glass you will be greeted by a dark ruby red colour with a youthful crimson hue. On the nose you will be engaged by lifted aromas of wild fruits, herb, floral scents and subtle liquorice notes interwoven with the char and wood smoke from the use of French oak.
The wines palate has a smooth texture, which gives perfect balance between the richness and vivacity of the wines flavour profile. This wine expresses flavours of dark cherries and spices, along with mocha chocolate and coffee feature with confidence and meld seamlessly with the seasoned tannins and natural acidity giving this wine a refined clean finish.
This 2013 Kilikanoon ‘Killerman’s Run’ G.S.M. has 14.5% Alc. Decant for 45-60 minutes and serve at 16-17°C.

A balanced G.S.M wine of character, expressed with beguiling simplicity.
