Grape Varietal: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Growing Region: Marlborough, New Zealand
Owner / Winemaker: Jules Taylor

Jules Taylor is at the top of her game when you talk about Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Selecting unique sites which expressive a multitude of subtle layers and lifted varietal characters. When you know your sites and know what to look for in the vineyard, within each row and even within the individual bunches - this varietal in the right hands and with respectful winemaking can express an incredible diversity of flavour.

The 2016 growing season was one not to be casual about, and even though at the end the Marlborough summer came through and gave way to ideal weather conditions to finish off and set up for grape harvest. Without Jules experience, the ongoing changes would have not resulted in such balanced fruit, sure lower sugars, but packed with pure varietal character.
The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was grown in the Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau and Awatere Valley sub-regions of Marlborough. Jules chose each parcel of fruit for its specific contribution to the aroma, flavour and structure for her envisioned blend. In order to encourage the flavours of each individual vineyard parcel to come through in the final blend. Jules kept the winemaking deliberately simple to respect and express each subtle note, to make something greater than the individual parts could achieve on their own.
The grapes were harvested, pressed and cold settled over a period of 48 hours. After racking off juice lees, a lengthy, cool fermentation followed with selected yeast strains, finishing in a dryer style. Post fermentation, the separate components were then blended, stabilised, rested and then promptly bottled in July to retain all of the varietal freshness.
As you pour this wine into your glass, you will be greeted by a shining pale lime colour. Poised for summer, this wine has a vivacious aroma, showcasing citrus and passionfruit notes, which leap from the glass. But that’s not all, as these characters are mixed with lively and perfectly entwined accents of lemongrass and freshly ripped green herbs. This stunningly vibrant wine captures the essence of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. These engaging flavours linger giving a long well-rounded finish to this precocious wine.
This 2016 Jules Taylor Sauvignon Blanc has 13% Alc. Chill gently and serve at 8-10°C.

The true essence of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which it delivers.
